Lacks verve. Hard work to finish the bottle

October 27, 2016 - The return of JonnyG: Marshmallow, some herb, lemon curd, spice and earth. Quite mild in terms of both fruit and acidity, it works reasonably well in terms of balance, but it doesn't really thrill, not yet anyway.

October 27, 2016 - A really impressive bottle to my taste, young and precise, with years and years ahead of it. Softer than many Bolly's, showing as much restraint as power. Classic notes of toasted brioche, apple and peach. Plenty of acidity, and my, what persistence. Some cinnamon and spice on the finish.

October 24, 2016 - It still needs a lot of time, perhaps 3 to 4 years to show it's best. Both nose and palate are a bit closed with some green notes. Grand Annee 05 performs much better at this moment.

October 5, 2016 - I have historically not been a great fan of the house style here due to experiences with a heavy ginger and oxidized character. This bottle was big and powerful with complex aromas already of the usual brioche and yeast notes. Palate is, as expected, youthfully coarse and bold with some early oxidative hints of toffee. Stoppered up and kept extremely cold the remaining half bottle til 2nd day: airing out has tamed this beast considerably. Oxidative hints have subsided and this shows promise for greatness in 7 to 10 years.
