May 14, 2017 - This is quite delicious. A core of black cherries, lemon, quinine, and minerals is enveloped with sweet yeasty goodness and hints of dark chocolate. Bright and mineral-rich on the long finish. I do not agree with my last review suggesting that this needed further aging to come into alignment (though wow, that was two years ago--time flies). I love the way it drinks now.

April 28, 2017 - Certainly my favourite but also a truly brilliant wine, The 2004 Grande Année is moving from greatness to greatness balancing power and elegance in a way this producer is so well-known for. The first impression isdeep minerals, fresh oysters and an impressive tone of lime zest. But then dark and slightly burnt toast, roasted almonds and sweet brioche emerge. The complexity is just thrilling! Power and elegance is present like a solid rock with equal immense eloquence. Texture and structure tell me this wine is in it for the longer haul, but it certainly drinks perfectly right now as well. Bravo!

April 16, 2017 - Wines before, during and after dinner at La Trompette. (Chiswick): Disgorged Sep. 2012

We had this before dinner at the table in the restaurant. It felt a bit clumsy at first in the wake of the Heidsieck, but the nose showed a nice display of yeast and hazelnut. There are differing views on here as to whether or not this is ready to drink but I'll be holding the rest of mine for a while.

April 13, 2017 - Loved this. Nose was fantastic and it was smooth on the palate. A special bottle for sure and definitely a cut above the standard Bollinger.
