June 8, 2022 - Ready to go as soon as it was opened, it is a medium bodied wine with a predominant layer of dark fruits. Ripe and soft tannins, good balance.
It went well with ribs.
March 19, 2020 - Opened this one to pair w/ a farfalle with roasted red pepper sausage. The Dodd is always a winner and this one was no exception. Roughly an hour to open up once decanted and had a real Chateauneuf essence to it w/ that barnyard aroma. Although towards the end of the window, just fantastic. Waiting to crack the 11' and 12' that I'm still holding.
February 10, 2018 - Needed to be opened up and let breathe for an hour. Rated 2013-2021 and drunk in 2018. Was beginning to look a little brickish in color but was still very good. Hard to compare as it's 53% tannat. We give it a 90.
December 21, 2015 - Dark purple opaque in color, this is a full bodied wine. Initial flavors of dark fruit transition smoothly to chocolate mousse and leather all supported by soft tannins to a long finish… This wine is delicious either as a sipping wine or with food.
August 8, 2015 - Same feeling that I had 2 years ago- damn tasty BBQ and food friendly wine. Drank with homemade 5 peppers, onions, cheese and bacon enchiladas (red sauce). Good wine that holds up with the spice. Tannins are more resolved and a great wine.
September 28, 2013 - Wow- drank better than I remember. A Tannat, Zin, Petite Verdot and Cab blend- sounds crazy, but they all play off each other well. Definitely can use more time- but with air this is a great steak wine right now. Dark fruits & pepper -the tannins are there but the fat of my steak help cut them. Glad I have another bottle and highly recommend.
Neil is just killing it with his wines at Lone Madrone. I like his freedom here vs. Tablas.
