July 17, 2023 - This was a bizarre showing. I only decanted 15 minutes, and the wine seemed tannic and green. The tannins subsided but the green wood quality never did. Outside that, a very classic chateauneuf.
May 6, 2023 - Bues 4 bouteilles en quelques jours. Elles étaient bien en forme. Une longue aération aurait été nécessaire.
March 9, 2023 - A bizarre showing for this wine. Upon opening, it was red fruited and aromatic, but darkened quickly in the glass. It showed enough heat that my wife immediately checked the ABV and found it to be 15%. Very dark and thick, it showed the expected kirsch and had enough acidity to make it suitable for service with food, but there was an unwanted sense of heaviness to the wine.
October 29, 2022 - Nez louche sur le bouillon de boeuf, malheureusement un vin qui s'est oxydé quelque peu. La bouche est plus intéressante, mais ça demeure assez monolithique. 90
October 27, 2022 - Dégustation verticale du Domaine Charvin (La Caverne de Collin): Un nez très anisé, avec un peu de bouillon de bœuf, signe de légère oxydation, qui en a rebuté quelques uns. J'y trouve par ailleurs la plus belle texture harmonieuse de ce groupe. Bouche ronde et fraîche, avec un joli fruit, une bonne richesse, d'un millésime assez mûr, avec une finale réglissée et encore un peu de bouillon. Dommage pour ce nez, ce sera la seule bouteille qui a peut-être souffert de la longue aération. Quoique c'était peut-être une bouteille imparfaite dès le départ? Une bouteille impeccable aurait peut-être volé la vedette.
91 pts, sans doute plus sur une bouteille parfaite.
Millésime bien reconnu.

One of the best Chauvin up to date !
Incredible nose, orange peel and blossom, dark berries, herbs, a certain density to that wine, close to the 2015 Redortier recently, with more depth and concentration to it ! it opens up to more aromas of iberico ham fat, dark chocolate (like 90% Colombian, dry style) and a bit of alcohol, as it was a bit chilled first.
Palate is exquisite though it has med acidity, which with more would lead to a greater wine even. med+ alcohol, and integrated tannins, with still good body, the wine is velvety and has a great saltiness leading to a well balanced wine with a perfect length based upon dark fruits and black olives.
tasted swiftly the remainings on D+1... descending swiftly, does not like air more than 2/3 hours

-med dark red purple
-pretty fresh kirsch raspberry very slight port-like oxidation
-med acidity, med+ weight syrupy medicinal kirsch spice cake, moderate heat and med tannins
-showcasing the grenache predominance, balance not great at this point
July 16, 2021 - was honestly a bit disappointed with this bottle, a bit syrupy.
July 2, 2021 - Belle bouteille plus intégrée que celle bue en 2016, sur les herbes et épices, un bouquet typique fort agréable. L'alcool ressort un peu plus que sur les Charvin en général, l'équilibre avec le fruit est encore maintenue mais un côté "kirsch" ressort. J'ai bien aimé dans un millésime mineur qui m'a rarement impressionné. 92
March 7, 2021 - über 2 Tage getrunken. Am ersten Tag vor dem Öffnen ca. 1 Std dekantiert. Rote Früchte. Taninne sind gut integriert. Mittlerer Körper. Zeigt guten Druck am Gaumen. Macht Spaß. Am zweiten noch etwas besser und hat zum Rehfilet noch etwas besser geschmeckt.
