2010 was a challenging harvest; cool weather conditions throughout spring and summer, followed by an early onset of winter rains resulted in a cooler growing season than usual. We sourced our fruit for this wine from the valley floor where there was sufficient heat to produce elegant, bright fruit characters, with just the right amount of acidity to give us the balance we strive for.

We blend in a small amount of Petit Sirah, a traditional approach that a lot of California winemakers use as the varietal has such similar fruit characteristics to Zinfandel, yet offers even richer tannins to give the wine more structure.
