October 16, 2022 - Yeah, I found another one in my cellar !! Still tasting really good right now !! At peak and delicious !! I agree with my tasting note note of two months ago, this bottle was better balanced than the last.
Perfect cork, easily removed after over a decade in the bottle. Dark ruby color with excellent clarity. Consumed over two days, not much difference the second day. I found this bottle to be well balanced, typical of Carrignane. Aromas of cranberry and raspberry. Flavors of tart cherry and plum. Fruit from the 100-year old Lucchesi Vineyard in the sandy soil of Contra Costa County CA. Good wine making by Matt Cline. A wine that has aged well. This time this is truly my last bottle of the vintage.
August 17, 2022 - Tasting pretty good right now !! At or just past peak, drink up !!
Perfect cork easily removed after over a decade in the bottle. Dark ruby color with excellent clarity. Consumed over two days, not much difference the second day. Fruit forward, but slightly out of balance, a little hot, not deguising the 15.1% advertised alcohol. Aromas of cranberry and raspberry. Flavors of tart cherry and plum. Fruit from the 100-year old Lucchesi Vineyard in the sandy soil of Contra Costa County CA. Good wine making by Matt Cline. My last bottle of the vintage.
July 6, 2020 - Still pretty good. Mellowed out.
April 14, 2020 - Initially pruney, this wine improved over two hours, revealing a plummy core with acid to carry it. On day two, it was even fresher and full of rich, soft fruit, but not oxidized. On day three, it was still drinking well, but volume dwindled, then disappeared. I expected nothing from this oldish inexpensive wine, and it surprised me with its generosity.
June 3, 2018 - A little past its due date....thin, watered down fruit, color and nose. Still a nice wine, just not a knockout like the '12 is drinking right now.
October 3, 2017 - Still dark vibrant purple. Complex on the nose with dark fruits and just a whiff or oak. Moderate tannin on the palate - so fruity it seems like a touch of sweetness but with structure. Med/long finish, still plenty of time left. Worked perfectly with pasta and sweet sausage w a layer of aged Parmesan.
January 14, 2017 - The last. Probably should have held a few more years.
November 3, 2016 - Dinner party
July 25, 2016 - Dark purple. More complex than the last time we tried it, on the nose and on the palate. Almost sweet, pleasantly so, but with a decent amount of structure. Med/long finish. Paired with a Bolognese pasta, worked wonderfully.
May 22, 2016 - Served with a pork butt done in a Crockpot with apple cider and spice. Popular of the several wines served.
