Community Tasting Notes 110

August 8, 2017 - From 75cl, perfect cork, decanted 1 hour. The quality is unmistakeable, but this bottle wasn't much fun: Big, dark and rich fruit, a bit stewed-tasting; massive american oak volatile and not well integrated; 14% alc. much more present and hot than it should be (at a range of actual wine temperatures from about 16C to perhaps 23C at very end of evening); tannins still strong and a little coarse. All in all a bit too much like a less successful 2003 Bordeaux for comfort. Perhaps a couple more years will resolve some of these disputes? 89P(?)

July 8, 2017 - Excellent - especially given the price.

June 20, 2017 - Dark fruits, a bit of forest floor, some tobacco, full bodied and mild tannins on the finish. Suggest a decant and aeration before drinking.

June 18, 2017 - Opened 2.5 hrs before drinking but did not decant. Upon opening noted aromas of rich dark fruit with a hint of vanilla & dill. Served with grilled strip steaks. Cherry/berry flavors with long aftertaste. Moderate acidity. Alcohol level seemed high, but bottle states just 14%. Nice tannins went well with the steak. Very enjoyabe bottle for Father's Day.

May 5, 2017 - From 75cl, apparently perfect cork, decanted 1 hour. A mixed-up kind of bottle. Good powerful ripe blackberry fruit, but some odd musty aromatics and unexpectedly abrasive, furry tannins. Bottle variation? Slight cork problem? 88P?
