Community Tasting Notes 23

September 26, 2020 - Earthy with cherries and medium acidity. Slight barnyard note that added some interesting character.

June 13, 2020 - Cherry, raspberry, great acidity, and not showing signs of age yet. 30+ second finish.

June 12, 2020 - I think many of the previous tasting notes are a bit unfair. Yes, there is a distinct whiff of kola nut, hard candy, and sasparilla/root beer, especially upon uncorking/pouring. Some of those curious flavors persist in the palate as well (not unexpected for many WS pinots). But there is also a "normal" profile that becomes more dominant with time in the glass, and increasingly after the first glass. That profile is not particularly complex, but it consists of a strong backbone of cherry with some faint suggestions of baking spices, anise, and mint. Tannins and acidity are both still quite noticeable. All of the above leads me to conclude that this wine still has a couple more years of life to it. Considering that the last several "disappointed" reviews were from 2018, I think those folks may have caught this wine at an embarrassing pubescent stage. This was my last bottle, but if I had more, I would not open the next one until late 2021. You, of course, are free to do what you will.

This wine might be less confusing when paired with traditionally prepared lamb. Although I drank it with no food, I kept getting a fleeting hint of very rare meat.

December 14, 2018 - That one reviewer notes root beer and sassafras for a Pinot is enough said for this wine. Yuck.

September 9, 2018 - Same as my prior review. Mediocre wine. Weird for a Pinot.
