November 16, 2019 - Decanted.
Scented with notes of cherry, raspberry, ripe strawberry and toschi fragoli with notes of sage, herbs, cinnamon, white pepper, spice, and earth with streaks of sandalwood, leather, sugar cookie, linzer torte and light floral notes.
The palate is full and voluptuous with bright, above moderate acidity and drying grippy tannins. The palate shows this wine has an elevated abv but in balance. Flavors coat the palate in super-ripe strawberry, laced with red cherry, linzer torte, sage and culinary herbs, tobacco, leather, white pepper, baking spice, anise and earth. Long on the finish that recalls a high level Gigondas or CdP.
This is absolutely in a peak drinking window.
May 9, 2017 - I had this after dinner on 5/9/17. It had a rich, fruit forward bouquet of cherry, strawberry, cola, anise sassafras and spice aromas. The palate was rich and concentrated with flavors of cherry jam, mocha, cola, sassafras and spice 90+
September 22, 2016 - Black berries, black tar, pepper, tobacco, smokey oak. a-
February 10, 2016 - Just not sure. Got better with time. Has some power, but not sure of its direction
December 3, 2015 - Clove and plum skin aromas wit a hint of grilled meat . Tart cherry and cedar notes are added when tasted. Good length and depth.
May 2, 2015 - 750ml; PnP; Semi-translucent crimson color, aromas of Strawberry and cherry, anise, baking spice; flavors of baked cherries, strawberry, spices, and a little bit of saddle leather. Nice flavorful wine - still need a couple years to mellow out and integrate further. This is a nice, fruity but not overbearing wine.
April 18, 2015 - Grenache Dinner (Rabo de cordobes) (Mukilteo Washington): This had deep, rich, harmonious bouquet of cherry, strawberry, mocha, anise and spice aromas. The palate was rich, round and smooth with flavors of cherry, strawberry, mocha, anise, sage and spice. Our group’s average score was 90.67 points.
January 11, 2015 - 750ml; Decanted 15 minutes ;-). A semi-transparent rusty red color, appears light-thin; sweet aromas of butter toffee taffy; tight but bright palate including strawberry, cinnamon spice, slight anise, cedarish fine tannins. Interesting wine, a bit hard to decipher after the previous zinfandel. Nice enough.
October 5, 2014 - Decanted. Perfume nose, a little sweet and some alcohol on the finish. Wife really liked it and I thought it was good, not great. Drink now and over the next 3-4 years. GOOD.
July 25, 2014 - Popped and poured, was a bit disappointed as it was sweeter than I like. But, after I let breathe about 30 mins while cooking dinner, it completely changed. Many more flavors emerged and it's flat out fantastic. Big rich flavors with touches of herbs and a finish that goes on. I want more.
