April 23, 2015 - PnP chilled with 10 min glass time. Clear, med straw color. Tight and none descript until it had time to open up. Tart, green apple, fruity, some oak, bigger style wine that went well with the chicken and pork. Nothing off. $54

April 22, 2015 - Serviceable when well chilled, less to my liking as it warmed - the oak, EtOH and diacetyl all seemed to lose any pretenses and make their robust presence known. Very much in the house style, of which I'm not a fan. Having said that, this is a nice example of an oaked $30-35 CA Chard - any more than that and I fail to see the point. 14,5% abv.

    Audozed 1 hour, served non-blind.

August 25, 2014 - PnP w/15 min glass time, well chilled. Clear, med straw color. Nice proper Chard, chalky nose. Big zesty/fruity, strong acid, intense flavor, fresh, clean, tart almost pucker finish. Excellent Chard if you like em this way. Good balance, slightly green yet but certainly drinkable now. Long finish, great wine, nothing off. $52

April 14, 2014 - First BK Chard. Saw high scores so needed to pop one. Chilled, short decant. Clear, med straw color. Big and proper Chard nose. This wine drank exceedingly well. Huge flavor, very slight oak/butter, more tart, balanced, extremely clean, exceptional acid. Fruity, muscular, dry, long finish. Well done. Nothing off. $52

December 27, 2013 - Bottle went fast. Too busy enjoying to take notes. Need to buy more because it ranks up with my favorite chards. Feels like it has a little sample of all my favorite characteristics in one chard.

November 27, 2013 - Yellow-gold in color. Beautiful varietal nose with hints of vanilla. Big, luscious Chardonnay. Wonderful mouthfeel, balanced, with a long finish that leaves you wanting another sip. I think it's the acidity that makes this wine so good. Reminds me of the Beringer Private Reserve Chards from the 80s, but with better acidity. Glad I bought 6 bottles. This is their first Chardonnay - I can't wait for their later releases.

November 24, 2013 - As a big fan of Black Kite Pinots, I was excited to try the Chardonnay. My high expectations we not out of line. A big, muscular, but very drinkable effort. Great mouthfeel with lemon curd, banana, and a honey/butter mid palate that is very appealing, a with nice acidic finish. Not in the Kistler, Aubert class, but way better than average and great value for the price.

May 22, 2013 - I really like this stuff. I'm not a big Chardonnay drinker, but this is just a pleasure. The nose has light straw and grass notes. The mouth is impeccably balanced.

November 3, 2012 - Love it. Crisp, clean, citrous, smooth. Good complexity and acidity. Tasted at the Black Kite fall release party.
