May 4, 2016 - Hmmm. This bottle is the 5th from a case of 12 over the past two years, and I hope the rest are like it! This wine is less austere with more fruit. Lovely medium red with long legs. Nose is initially earthy with mushrooms and leather, almost Burgundian, but then the fruit comes through the middle and speaks of Bordeaux. With some time in the glass, a more floral quality emerges with flinty minerals, some pine and eucalyptus. Well integrated dark fruits - cassis, cherry and overtones of raspberry or strawberry - along with smooth tannins, fresh acid and some cocoa, leather and gravel. Moderately long finish with some tart cherry and citrus notes. Excellent structure and integration. Looking forward to see how the next bottle drinks.

April 23, 2016 - Beautifully aged, dark blue fruit, bright, fine tannins. Drank at family get together which always helps the enjoyment.

April 9, 2016 - 94. Clay, gravel, tobacco, black cherry, graphite on the nose. Seductive velvety mid palate, more dried black cherry. Long smooth finish. Classic, mature Bordeaux.

April 5, 2016 - Having had this particular vintage of this Cos more than any other Bordeaux in my life (at least 20+ occasions), this time tells me the magic is starting to fade a little. It used to have one of the most hedonistic noses of any non-first growth. While it is still a great wine, it probably won't get any better with additional age. It still has a ton of red cassis fruit laced with licorice with sweet tannins and anise. A fun wine to drink while in a Whistler on Spring Break. Why not, right? The only remaining question is this... Could this bottle be a touch bottle shocked from the flight out here? I will just have to drink another when I get home to find out. :-)

(Cos d'Estournel) Tight....tight . . . . tight. Great nose of chestnuts, mint, blackberries, black cherries, cassis, cedar and minerals. Just a deep, foresty St. Estephe nose. Concentrated and super-ripe with sweet fruit, pretty firm tannins, and a long very nicely delineated finish. Excellent quality but still an infant. Would nice to check in again in 7 years.
