September 2, 2014 - This is now in full stride mode. We decanted and served and needed about 10-15minutes to fully develop.
Quite dark in colour still. More open on the nose than 6 months ago when we tried it last (Papies 94) , more developed and had a richer profile than we would expect from a Cos. Very Solid wine and one of the better drinking left bank wines from the vintage. Starting to show age with nice secondary notes across but will be in this sweetspot it felt for quite a bit of time. 93-94 and very good.

    August 29, 2014 - Not rated.
    Still dark colour.
Fully developed nose. Leather, saddle, cigarre. Spicy and a bit cool. Some dense minerality. Old-school Bordeaux. Ink and backward, weak, dark fruit.
Fullish, austere, a bit dry palate. Tobacco and leather. A bit thin in midpalate. Lacking grip.
Tasted blind this was a dissapointment. Complex nose, but very flat taste. Flawless storage. Must have been an off-bottle. Another bottle of the same wine was tasted later during the weekend and was a seamless performance.

August 24, 2014 - Brought to dinner and decanted for about an hour. Garnet hue. Nose of cassis, cedar, cigar box, earth, and red plum. On the palate an evolving core of currant and darker plum fruit laced with moca and tobacco. No green pepper. Strong but smoothed-off tannins and low-to-moderate acidity leading to a longer finish of sweet currant fruit with nice grip at the end. Quite integrated with no sharp edges but also seemingly capable of increased complexity with more time in the cellar. Impressive and just beginning to enter its drinking window.

June 29, 2014 - Nose of bret, black fruit, touch of plum, fig, and earth, more of the same on the palate, medium/big body, and medium/long finish.

June 27, 2014 - opened at restaurant and left in bottle for approx 1 hr before consuming. wine has significantly integrated and is more seamless w not much texture. not sure w more air and more years in the bottle will personality, secondary flavors and more complicated flavor profile develop but on this night just ok.

Rockss and Fruit

(Cos d'Estournel) Tight....tight . . . . tight. Great nose of chestnuts, mint, blackberries, black cherries, cassis, cedar and minerals. Just a deep, foresty St. Estephe nose. Concentrated and super-ripe with sweet fruit, pretty firm tannins, and a long very nicely delineated finish. Excellent quality but still an infant. Would nice to check in again in 7 years.
