July 13, 2017 - Nose of cigar box, saddle leather, black fruit, plum, and bell pepper, same on the palate, medium body, time to drink up over the next 7 years, tasty, atypical St. Estephe, typical Bordeaux, very interesting, worth buying, and medium/long finish.

June 15, 2017 - Finally, as with a lot of 1995s recently, this has finally opened up, and it was well worth the wait and somewhat unexpected after underwhelming tastings over the last few years. This was last tasted a year ago and what a difference now with deep aromas of plum, cherry, and graphite. The wine shows great depth and complexity on the palate with good firm tannins. The finish is reasonably long and balanced. The tannin still has scope to resolve further but definitely time to start enjoying this, but do decant.

June 13, 2017 - Nice medium dark ruby colour with slightly bricking edges. On the nose, a bouquet of aromas of graphite, blackcurrant, and loamy soil. A slight touch of coffee. Medium concentration. With air, the blackcurrant becomes dominant and is joined by black grapes with a touch of graphite. With a few hours of air, the graphite is replaced with spices like curry. On the palate, the attack has somewhat rounded tannins, followed by blackcurrant flavours and a touch of red peppers. Good length. The wine is a little thin at this point in my opinion. It wasn’t accompanied by appropriate food which likely didn’t help. All in all a good wine, though I wouldn’t rate it above the 2008 that I tasted a few days earlier. 91

June 8, 2017 - Similar to previous note for 2016. The wine has opened up and definitely moved into a prime drinking window with no coaxing needed.

May 16, 2017 - Mid-brick, amber edges. Similar impressions as previous: earthy, terroir, smokey, cedar nose; mid-body; balanced; decent tannins; long, semi-tight fruity finish. w/filet

(Cos d'Estournel) Tight....tight . . . . tight. Great nose of chestnuts, mint, blackberries, black cherries, cassis, cedar and minerals. Just a deep, foresty St. Estephe nose. Concentrated and super-ripe with sweet fruit, pretty firm tannins, and a long very nicely delineated finish. Excellent quality but still an infant. Would nice to check in again in 7 years.
