February 18, 2021 - This bottle was a total killer. So fresh, and so tasty -- a bit of sweet raisin flavor in the fruit, this was very special. One of the most memorable bottles of wine I've ever had.

January 15, 2018 - Mineral laden, slightly rustic, with good, exquisite exract on the nose. Great sweetness to the fruit on the palate, together with elevated freshness, overall trends savory. Killer with black truffle risotto. If there's any Barbera in here, it's only helped. An incredible, electric wine. We all expected the 61' Monfortino to be great, and it was. This was the surprise package, and a new standard for Barbaresco for me.

October 7, 2016 - NK 1978/1982 Barolo & Barbaresco Dinner (Dovetail Restaurant, NYC): [Double-decanted around 9am.] Gorgeous sweet floral red fruit nose. In the mouth, black fruit and tannins. A magnificent wine. My WOTN.

October 7, 2016 - Lovely perfume, roses, with softer edges than the other '78s. A touch of cocoa that for me detracted some, but otherwise lovely palate presence. Structured, but if I am picking nits, with less focus than the other '78s. Nice tension, balance and poise. Beautiful. 93

July 27, 2016 - Mint and acetone on the nose. Fine, fine tannins. Very long and impressive.

September 24, 2010 - Similar to last note, felt that this bottle was even more youthful and after some decanting time the fruit really comes out. With truffle season around the corner I'm sure there will be a good opportuinity to crack a few more of these open.

June 20, 2010 - Lovely pour, red brick around the edges and leave long arms after a swirl, captivating nose. In the mouth there is tobacco, leather, plums and game. Still some tannins to resolve, but found everything to be harmony.
