- Sought-after by wine lovers all over the world, Cha^teau La Mission Haut-Brion white wine is extremely rare (500 to 600 cases). Containing an average 85% Se´millon and 14% Sauvignon Blanc with a dash of Muscadelle, this voluptuous wine is rich and concentrated with a wonderfully long finish. Previously known as Cha^teau Laville Haut-Brion, Cha^teau La Mission Haut-Brion is a wine for the initiated. It is unique: when young, it has the characteristics of a great Gewurztraminer. Over time, it takes on the amber colour of a great Sauternes wine. This dry white wine expresses all the attributes of a Graves sweet wine, specific to the Se´millon grown on these famous terroirs. Beginning with the 2009 vintage, the familiar Cha^teau Laville Haut-Brion label will no longer be used, to be replaced by one bearing the name Cha^teau La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, accentuated in gold as Fre´de´ric Woltner had done when creating its very first label in 1927.

The 2012 vintage was uneven from bud break, which was disturbed by a cool, wet month of April, to ve´raison (color change), which took place over a long period. Fortunately, the months of July and August 2012 were ideal: warm and dry. This fine summer weather enabled us to do everything possible in the vineyard in order to make up for the poor spring weather. For two months, our team worked meticulously to make ripening as homogeneous as possible, and removed any green grapes at ve´raison.The harvest for both red and white wines began under sunny skies.2012 is a truly fine vintage for early-ripening terroirs such as ours.

The complex floral and white fruit bouquet features hints of citrus, peach, almond, and acacia. The wine starts off quite smooth and full-bodied on the palate with a freshness that carries the flavour through to a fine long aftertaste. However, this freshness is not overwhelming because the wine is also rich and powerful. This is unquestionably a great year for dry white wines.
