  (Jean-Paul Brun Beaujolais l'Ancien Vieilles Vignes) This had dull red fruits and too much tannin and acidity. Itv was okay but just tasted like typical red table wine of no consequence. I was dissapointed as I loved this wine in its youth and drank it voraciously. It was vibrant, the fruit was darker and the tannins were ripe and swathed in fruit. Oh well. Sometimes they age the way you think and sometimes they don't. It's all in the game.

  (Jean Paul-Brun "Terres Dorees" l'Ancien Vieilles Vignes) This is easily the best Brun Terres Dorees I have ever had. It is unreal that this wine is like $13.00 a bottle. It has complexity, depth, purity, gaminess, intense minerality, outrageous texture, crackling acidity and so much soul. I am drinking it now on day 2 and I cannnot believe how much it has improved. It is uncanny the quality, transparencey and pure brilliance of this wine. This has grippy tannins but they are so suave, sweet and ripe you notice them but the way you notice sea salt on Wylie's foie gras terrine at WD-50. Kind of like..."Oh yeah this has salt...cool. And it's really really good salt." This is genius wine and in the running for one of the best wines I have had all year. Jean-Paul Brun is my idol.

  (Jean Paul Brun "Terres Dorees" l'Ancien Beaujolais-Villages Vieilles Vignes) This was sensational with rich red fruits, cleansing acidity and ripe tannins. Great complexity. Long finish and ripe tannins. Tannins were so ripe I had to say it twice.

  (Jean-Paul Brun "Terres Dorees" L'Ancien Beaujolais "VV") This is great young Brun. Oh when will the world catch one? Probably never. Good. The '04 was weird out of the gates but got really good after around six months in bottle and is singing now. The '05 is screaming out of the gates. Nose of wet earth, ripe cherries and cassis with a slab of minerality. Palate is bright as a 150 watt light bulb that has just been screwed in with red fruits galore and stunning purity. Yes it is opulent and ripe but it is like Brun 3-D..which is not a bad thing....you brun lovers know what I am talking about. Happy..Happy..Joy..Joy.....
