October 18, 2014 - Fading, or already faded, depending on your point of view. Hints of citrus and green apple remain, the texture is soft, but you really need to look hard to find the last vestages of fruit. Drink up.

March 31, 2014 - Mushrooms and other tertiary aromas were subdued in the 1989 compared to the exoticism and more overt tertiary character of the 1986 I've had in the past. The palate was more linear with a lighter mouthfeel, youthful fruit, and less unctuous, weighty density.

November 9, 2013 - Pours out glistening with green hues. If it weren’t for a whiff of toast and a hint of mushroom development (and a lack of premox) this could be 20 years younger. It has some restrained exoticism coupled with preserved lemon, honeysuckle, mint and aniseed notes and an icy cool mineral spine. It has richness but is so linear and direct. The finish is laden with chalk and length extraordinary. One suspects that well stored bottles of this will be humming along beautifully in another quarter of a century.

June 7, 2013 - Two bottles consumed. Notes from memory. Both superb. One fatter richer with slightly less dfinition. The second more linear but fresher with superb long finish.

July 30, 2012 - Wow! Decanted for 1-1/2 hours and the wine just exploded with flavor. Full and intense, visceral, tropical, flinty. Light yellow color.

(Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne) The 1989 Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne had an exotic nose with aromas of foie gras ice cream, if you have ever had such a thing. It had this sweet delicacy, as well as great perfume and an open-wide personality. This secondary, mushroomy complexity was great as well. The palate was long and citrusy with nice dust flavors, delicious and round and morphing into crème brulee with time in the glass. Marzipan joined the party over time as the wine softened like Bounce
