October 21, 2014 - Solid Barolo, young for sure, but nice juicy fruit and mineral notes

September 18, 2014 - Dinner at Browntrout (Browntrout, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is on the tighter side, but there is still real beauty with roasted herbs, strawberries, star anise, red cherries, violets, roses, and tar. There is real class and depth to the nose that starts to come through as it opens up.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with high acidity and big tannins. The structure is extremely youthful and powerful. Beneath the structure lies roasted herbs, violets, strawberries, red cherries, and tar.

Overall: Like a few months ago, this is all about the raw materials right now. There is a ton to like right now, but it needs a lot of sleep time before it really kicks into gear.

September 18, 2014 - Dinner at Browntrout (Browntrout - Chicago, IL): Potential in a glass. Super young even after a couple hours in the decanter. Loved the florals, dustiness, and dark fruit. Super tight as you'd expect, but the material is top rate. Definitely a buy.

September 18, 2014 - I picked up a bottle of this at Binny's to try - my first 2010 Barolo. PnP a bit and it was really nice - some red and dark fruit, spice, dusty tannins, leather, minerals. We decanted it and came back to it some hours later. Nose: dusty, cherry, tart, stones - really poised. a touch of heat. Palate shows tart berry and strawberry, spice, heat. This was better, to me, PnPed. Coffee. Still a really nice showing and bodes well for 2010. Probably 15.5-16/20.

September 9, 2014 - Decanted about an hour (splashed into a wide base decanter). Starts off very tight, with some heat on the nose, dark fruit and gritty tannins. Some warmth on the palate, but it's just that, warm -- in a very nice way. Florals start to show on the nose after a couple hours, then a whiff of roasted nuts. The tannins become softer, dark fruited with a savory edge. Deep and fairly long. This is very nice, and worth buying a few bottles and holding for 10+ years (probably more like 15-20). Really enjoying this wine.
