September 17, 2019 - Very good for a second wine. In a good drinking window, will hold a few more years
March 21, 2019 - This was great. Full-bodied, layers of dark fruit like dark cherries and plums, and smokey or woody notes. There is a lot of variance in previous reviews and scores. Maybe a factor is that our bottle was carefully cellared. Also we drank it almost right away without much decanting -- an hour and a half after opening it seemed less interesting. Very good QPR if you can find it.
March 3, 2018 - This wine started off flat and after a few hours started to open up a bit. Past its prime and I recommend drinking soon. Don't expect a lot.
It smells like mineral and lead pencil. The body is medium. The wine has a round texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has low acidity.
February 4, 2018 - Past it's prime. Drink up!!
July 23, 2017 - This was a fantastic wine. Dense, dark fruits. Fresh and youthful at 17 years old. Distinctive CabSauvignon flavours with notes of CabFranc on the nose.
April 28, 2017 - Great balannce with leather and earth. Most enjoyable .
March 21, 2017 - Still hanging in there after all these years!
January 16, 2016 - Wonderful aroma of dark fruit, leather tobacco, log cabin and earth. Silky smooth drinker. A bit of dill on the palette accompanies the fruit and more meaty earthy/mushroom-y notes. Nicely balanced. Smooth tannins fully resolved. Delicious and at its peak, nowhere left to go. Enjoyed w Beef Burgundy on cold Jan night.
April 17, 2015 - wow what an beautiful bouquet
March 28, 2014 - This showed really excellent balance and structure. Layers of cassis, blueberry, tobacco and a touch of vanilla. There is a really nice texture to this, and the fruit was singing. Moderately long finish. This bottle delivered a lot more than I expected from this label. It is a real testament to the vintage. It will appeal for sure to those who love classic, traditional St. Julien. It's in a sweet spot now, and should drink well over the next 5-10 years.
