April 2, 2021 - Finished previously coravined bottle. Drunk with turbot. Good match. Honey on the nose, more dried apricots on the palate. Initial roundness then very dry, decent finish.

On a plateau of maturity now.

March 13, 2021 - Coravined 2 small glasses. With scallops and black pudding.

Quite deep burnished gold. Some honeyed notes, but essentially dry. Good food wine, quite long.

I suspect this will keep going for a bit, but won't improve from here.

April 28, 2019 - The aroma has a little bit of the chemical/smashed beetle component that I sometimes get from chenin. Broad, waxy, lemony fruit with just a hint of oxidation, strong acidity, and some interesting botrytized flavors. An excellent food wine at this stage.

April 1, 2017 - Continues to drink well. Per past notes dating back to '14 and '15, found much the same combination of honey/citrus/stone fruit/nuttiness, slight oxidation with a still vibrant acid/mineral balance. Rather than petroleum, I want to say something more organic, if not pitch, because it is not piney. Opens well on nose, is graceful on the palate, has a nice long finish with enjoyable shifting fruit and sweetness/acid balance.

December 19, 2015 - Wonderful Savennières. Honey and fruit on the nose, with slightly oxidated tones and a bit of petroleum. Striking development on the palate: First a bit of honey, white fruit, some nuts but also a mineral dryness; after a couple of seconds refreshing acidity, very nicely balanced. Complex and long. Drinks very well now, but should last for several years.

December 6, 2014 - An Evening in the Loire Valley: Westchester Wine School (White Plains, NY): Drank at WWS Loire tasting vs a Closel Jalousie. This was voted overwhelmingly the WOTN. Medium bodied, pretty medium gold color. Slightly oxidized nose with mineral, apples & melon notes. Decent fruit level here, nicely integrated with the acidity & overall mineral quality of this wine. Some sweetness at the back end, on the fairly long finish. Good complexity & an interesting wine to drink, as alwasy. This was a bigger, more complex wine than the Jalousie, also a few years older. Still, both of these wines could use some more bottle age.
