December 1, 2023 - You would never know that '11 was an off vintage by drinking this TRB cab. This wine is singing right now.
July 22, 2023 - Drinking really good. 12 years in a poor year in Napa and it's so good.
May 30, 2023 - Smooth, integrated, somewhat muted fruit for a TRB wine.
April 5, 2023 - Victim of wine tasting, a crowd favorite.
April 18, 2022 - Last bottle. Similar to my note from a year ago. Great wine!
April 3, 2022 - Crimson in color. 14.2% ABV. Sublime nose of blue and black fruits, molten licorice and Whitman Sampler box. Rich, decadent and perfectly balanced. Warm, supple and very approachable. Currants, cassis liqueur, blueberries and chocolate on the palate. Nice length on the finish with gritty tannins. Better than a bottle a little over a year ago. Super Cabernet Sauvignon from an uneven vintage. Best over the next 2-3 years.
March 19, 2022 - At opening on Friday night, this seemed like somewhat watery oaky juice. I managed to finish half a glass — it didn’t seem defective and certainly not over the hill, just very disjointed and oaky. I thought perhaps lots of air time would help, so I left the bottle uncorked all night on the counter, and recorked it Saturday morning. Saturday evening, I reopened it — hoping for a miraculous change. Though the oak had toned down somewhat and there was some dark fruit peeking through, it was still a lightweight with a watery mouthfeel. During the evening, the oak continued to recede a bit but it never became a particularly enjoyable wine. This was a recent auction purchase and I have one more, so I guess I should probably open that other one in the near future to see if this bottle was an anomaly.
December 20, 2021 - Solid enough but not really wowing me like most R-M cabs. Light/medium bodied, a bit simplistic profile on the palette. Solid weeknight table red. Wife liked it more than I did.
December 18, 2021 - Very fair. Not up to R-M’s usual standard for cabs.
