March 21, 2016 - A Few Meals in Burgundy; 3/20/2016-3/26/2016 (Burgundy): Cherry cross-section on nose and palate with background hints of mushroom. Moderate depth but overall very good balance already now. The best i can recall for this wine.

February 10, 2016 - I've had most if the previous vintages of this since it returned to Mugnier, and this is the first one where I think it turned the corner. From half at Rebelle. Has that rich 2012 fruit, but the Nuits character gives it a real bass note, with sort of a deep, gamey character, plenty of (ripe) tannin and length and minerality. Surprisingly, this also has a high toned, flowers and red fruit nose riding on top of all this depth, almost like a Chambolle nose pasted to a Nuits palate. It's really, really good, and yummy as heck right now. My mother - no wine geek, but someone who's had her share of good bottles - took a sip and said "this is what a wine should taste like". Couldn't agree more.

January 26, 2016 - 375 ml bottle. Lots of black fruit and meaty character. Lots of fresh fruit and almost jammy. Fun, but seemingly less concentrated than I recall from previous bottles. Cellar (even these 1/2 bottles) at least a few more years.

November 8, 2015 - Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): tasting, brief note. Fruit slightly subdued today vs previous times tasted, but the same roasted meat and spice elements are there, as is the very good balance and elegance. Cellar for at least another year or three.

August 31, 2015 - Showing rather well today out of .375 despite slightly rough tannins. Blackberry and elegant perfume (as always for this wine). Found it with more concentration than recent bottle of the '10. Would give these another few years out of 750 ml.
