August 19, 2016 - Cork as mentioned by JR was a problem, soft in middle and crumbled but wine ok after straining.Browning edge but still nice color ,Google long finish with great fruit and softer tannins ,no sign of green , good to drink or hold

January 31, 2016 - Maturing red berries with earth and some forest floor. Just faint green hints on finish, not really noticeable when popped-and-poured, but starting to emerge once the bottle was open an hour+. Very pleasant bottle of wine, particularly for Mugnier's first vintage taking back the Monopole.

January 31, 2016 - Nothing that stands out as absolutely amazing about this bottle other than it delivers where it needs to. Slightly browning meniscus but otherwise transparent ruby. Clean and lean mineral driven aromatics with some earthy tones starting to really come to the fore. Nicely lifted palate of cranberry and minerals, a light mid-palate that moves seamlessly to a clean and balanced--if a bit short--finish. A delicately balanced purely burgundian experience. There is no other place in the world that could deliver this. And it is a pleasure. Not earth shattering, but exactly as it should be.

January 21, 2016 - Unlike my previous bottle from the same purchase, this bottle demonstrated the strong green streak on the nose and palate. There was clearly great fruit texture underneath the green, but it was hard to enjoy.

November 8, 2015 - The greenness in this bottle was a little overpowering. Red fruit on the nose and some underlying signs of a solid wine however. Unclear if further age would improve it, however will leave the remaining bottles to see if the greenness fades.

    (Clos Marechale MUGNIER) Grab Bag

    Dear Friends,

I normally save something like this for a Friday afternoon but I've been in tastings all day and this list of confirmations just came through (it's nearly 4:00am here). After today's exercise, I can say with humility that the excitement of a new vintage still gets my blood pumping. The lifelong process of understanding the truth in wine leads us through a vinous treasure hunt that never ceases to amaze me...

Which brings me back to today's offer

You can throw darts at the list below - all are more than worth owning and the prices are about as enticing as I've seen. I don't have access to scores or pricing data so you will have to do some research on our own but, I do know, the prices are very low...

FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to 6/each until we run out:

2004 JF Mugnier Clos de la Marechale

2005 Belliviere Eparses VV Coteaux du Loir Blanc

    2005 Belliviere Jasnieres Les Rosiers

    2003 Roagna Barolo Vigna Rionda

    2003 Francesco Rinaldi Barolo Brunata

2005 Bois de Boursan CdP "Cuvee Felix"

    2006 Resonance Vineyard Pinot Noir

    Thank you,
