October 9, 2023 - Soft aged tannins frame this full bodied beauty. Soft floral notes on the nose evolve to soft red and blue fruits on tasting. Still plenty of life left.
Wishing I had more of this vintage.

June 18, 2021 - Another strong Kamen performance, but I’d have to say this has peaked and on its decline. Drink now! Fruit was there, but muted. Very fine soft tannins and no in your face fruit. More of an Aged Brdx experience than typical calif cab.

October 8, 2020 - Finished off a coravined bottle for dinner tonight. Cork was soaked two thirds of the way up all around. Deep dark fruit, nice briar/graphite component to the nose.....well integrated acidity and tannins with beautiful black plum fruit just on the fresher side of being stewed. A bit of fine powdery sediment in the bottle. This is very nice but may be in it's final stages. If you have any I would think you need to drink up in the next 1-2 years, unless you are going for that really aged, really stewed, thin fruit type of cabernet.

August 12, 2020 - 94 tonight, if last night's '12 was a 93......drinking a tad younger rather than a tad older compared to the '12 last night. Obviously, the loose cork in the '12 was a problem and allowed the '12 to drink like it was an '03 last night. This has a higher range of acidity and life in general. It's really drinking pretty nice tonight with a coravin pour. Some would have no problem givning this a 95 but I'm trying to reign in my high scoring tendencies! Earthy, classic briar nose......plenty of cherry, blackberry fruit with just the slightest tad of tartness on the end of it. It works, very well!

July 14, 2020 - Tasting great right now. Tannins have smoothed out. Probably the right time to drink. It’s at the perfect balance.

June 17, 2020 - Delicious wine drinking with some maturity. Super round purple fruit but nice balance with cooperage and stone/mineral qualities. Acidity seems rather low and alcohol rather high. Probably will roll over soon as there isn’t acidity or tannic structure left to backstop the rest.

April 21, 2019 - Even after a two hour decant, this fairly young Kamen Cab still has active tannins with its dark blackberry fruit. This wine has notes of cassis, vanilla and mocha and a massive structure due to the tannins. Think this needs another few years to settle down and reach its full potential. Writing this on second day trying this Cab...tannins are now silky smooth...what a difference a day makes. Reinforces this wine needing more time in the bottle.

February 23, 2019 - This wine is still fairly tannic which suggests that some more cellar time might be in order. We gave this bottle about a two-hour decant and we really enjoyed it. This wine hails from the Sonoma Valley AVA and more than any other Sonoma cab I've tasted in a while, you can really taste the difference in the Sonoma terroir from a typical Napa Valley cab. We both noticed strong flavors of black currant and black cherry on the mid-palate and a nice long finish. Cheers!
