September 6, 2021 - Beautiful right now. It was the hit of the night, with some stiff competition.

June 30, 2021 - End of an era - my last shafer merlot. Delicious, rich and full bodied. Toasted oak, vanilla, black cherry and blackberry. Smooth as silk.

June 4, 2021 - Decanted thirty minutes. Youthful dark color. Cherry, chocolate, cedar and currant tones. Medium-bodied; well-balanced. Drinking very well at the moment.

September 3, 2020 - Very good. Back to what the first bottle was a couple of years ago. I am not typically a fan of Merlot as a varietal, but this one might change my mind.

July 6, 2020 - Continues to be a really good example of Californian wine at its best. Deep dark colour with a hint of purple on the edge, very appealing with the vanilla coming through clearly on the nose. Mouth covering flavour with good length. Not the most complex but it just does the business. Probably will last another bit but not sure that great complexity will arise, so not a great risk reward.

July 2, 2020 - Waited too long......earlier bottles were much better. Also, the cork crumbled. I would be a drinker of this one.

May 10, 2020 - Perfect blend of dark red cherry, a tase of oak and an opulent finish. Just improves in the glass over the course of a meal.
