October 7, 2022 - Decanted for two hours. A bit closed before the decant. Pencil, oak, blackberry on the nose as well as on the palate. Tannins softened after the decant. A bit difficult to separate and define the elements of the taste, but typical notes of a Bordeaux blend, left bank style I would say. Well integrated and quite powerful.

October 9, 2019 - Monthly Tasting Group HWS #142; Vertical De Toren Fusion V plus some ringers (By RG): Dark berries, licorice, leather, beautiful oak and some spiciness. On the palate juicy dark and red berries, beautifully dosed oak, good acidity and round tannin with a pleasant bite. Well balanced and a good length. 91 - 92

July 7, 2019 - Lush, fruit forward. Candied dates, prunes, clove, roasted character on the front. Gives way to a darker smoked meat character. Was the best with the homemade salad dressing consisting of avocado, fresh basil, Greek yogurt, green onion, garlic and parsley. In a way I could see all of these characteristics in this wine. In the past these have seemed a little tight and a bit closed off on the finish, but this wine was ready for the show. I think this producer is really quite underrated when it comes to the time it takes for these to really start expressing and I would put these up against any of the South African 'first growth' wineries.

August 18, 2018 - Served to our wine group - decanted about four hours and was better and smoother than another 11 that was presented that had not been decanted. A 12 and 10 were also presented and the 10 was the best wine of the evening. 12 needs to lay down for a few more years.

December 18, 2017 - Damn, this is outstanding! Very complex and lovely nose. Primary aromas like violets, fig, prune, plum, cherry, liquorice and loads more. Secondary with coconut, vanilla, nutmeg, charred wood and cedar. As well as tertiary being nuttiness and toast. With medium + acidity and medium tannins, this wine is beautiful in balance, For the body, it is medium. And intensity medium +, the finish is very long. Those tannins are very soft and smooth, making this an outstanding wine with also quite big ageing potential
