September 15, 2023 - Cherries, black cherries, mushrooms and forest floor on the nice nose. Round and juicy in a medium bodied package, and a fine finish with exiting sweet fruit. 92-93 p.. A little tighter on day 2, but the fruit is still great, wish it had a little more punch.

March 27, 2023 - My 60th (Abbot Street, Ngaio, Wellington, New Zealand): A regal wine from an esteemed producer, from a cool vintage. At the age of 25, this is totally ready for business with gorgeous fresh dug field mushroom aromas, steely Pinot fruit, and a surprisingly vivid oak handling that still feels somewhat apart from the fruit. The balance is impeccable, the palate is ethereal, and the finish is beautifully modulated. This is superb wine.

February 1, 2020 - Burgundy Wine Club 10th Anniversary Dinner: Very strong showing, although suffered for being served after a quartet of stunning older Richebourgs. This showed lovely roundness of aroma and flavor, and was prettier than the other two Chambertins it was served alongside. It did not, to me, offer the kind of complexity on the palate that I want from this wine - I preferred the 1994 I had a few years ago. I served this blind with two other 1998 Chambertins and most preferred this one, although some found the Bruno Clair to be at least it's equal.

March 9, 2019 - La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. Lots of black cherry and plum with roasted and smoked meat. Very powerful, nearly balanced. Very good length. I felt this was something like a 92-93 point wine tonight with just so much more in reserve. I have one bottle in the cellar, that i hope to hold to 2025 or later.
