January 19, 2017 - This was gifted by a dear friend several years ago. It was opened on the occasion of closing on a new home. In short, it was superb. I see ratings of 88-89. For me those are the ratings I give NV Methode Champenoise Sparkling wines from California (and NM) and the better Prosecco's that I keep for more everyday drinking. This blows all of them away. Boom. Gone. On a relative ratings scale where this is compared to other Champagne's, this is/was right up there. I was reminded of 82 Pol Roger Cuvee Winston Churchill (of course it was years ago and of course this was a special occasion and of course... , but you get the drift). This was a bottle that out performed what I had thought it might be. Never underestimate setting, but always bring something equal to the occasion. I'm not sure I have ever had this wine before, but will be purchasing more for the next special occasion...

January 5, 2017 - Monthly tasting club LTC 2017-01; Portugal (@ GH): In the bouquet yeast and brioche. On the palate minerals, good citrus, fairly focused. A slight touch of sweetness but also firm acidity. Tasty wine.

December 28, 2016 - From half-bottle. The champagne was light to medium yellow-golden in colour, with fine, medium-intense perlage. It offered apple, citrus, biscuit and brioche on the nose and palate, with medium-fine mousse, fresh, medium-plus acidity and average length. Fresh and clean, with moderate complexity and length. Solid value.

(NV Heidsieck & Co Monopole Blue Top Brut Champagne) Brings some nice aromatic complexity with pear, a light nuttiness, and abundant spice. The palate is light, creamy and tart with a lingering, spice filled finish.

(NV Heidsieck & Co. Monopole Blue Top Brut Champagne) Purchased Summer 2000. An attractive light onion-skin colour. Fairly coarse bead. The nose carries a light yeastiness together with some citrus fruit. A middle of the road palate, with more subtle biscuity yeasty notes sitting with sharp citrus fruit acidity. Mousse is a little aggressive. Pleasant drinking.
