October 1, 2019 - Perfect for now with a long finish.

January 4, 2019 - Despite being a few years past its ‘drink by’ date, this wine has aged superbly...what was once a classic Chardonnay coloring has evolved in to a deep golden hue, with complex notes of acidic fruit and some buttery/oak flavor. Opens up beautifully as well, improved with some time uncorked

the classic oakiness of early 2000 Kistler is subdued and there is a freshness on the nose that is surprising at 14 years. For sure I bought on release and kept cold and dark without moving it so this was optimally stored.
The palate is broad and generous with fruit in balance w acidity. I feel it is excellent and could remain so for another 5 years but there is nothing more coming. No real flaws but a tincy monolithic

February 16, 2016 - Well, color me surprised. This was opened by a friend tonight during a casual business meeting and it showed extremely well. Deep yellow color with a youthful bouquet of pear, citrus and Lily-of-the-Valley floral qualities. Rich and full without being heavy, with lemon, citrus, honeysuckle and wet stone qualities. I tend to think Parker is full of crap when he likens Kistler/Peter Michael/big CA Chard to Corton Charlemagne or nearly any other terrific Burgundy, but there was definitely a hint of that here. It had the richness and citrus of a great Corton Charlie, so I can't argue with his assessment of this one. Pristine examples such as this will hold a few years yet, but I have no doubt that this bottle was an exception and I certainly wouldn't expect too many more like it.
