January 4, 2022 - Love the red fruits notes from this bottle. There are hints of greenish due to the vintage but still very lovely at this stage.
August 14, 2021 - Disappointing. Light ruby red. Not really showing any age. Super primary with hardly any structure. Watery like mid pallet.
October 5, 2019 - Medium-light ruby. Nose of red fruit, earthy aromas, modest complexity. Stays relatively harmless, simple, primary on the palate. The producer is well regarded and Rugiens is a top site, may be it is too young, may be it is the sub-par vintage. Anyway, only table wine quality for this showing.
April 19, 2019 - Really bright and punchy, with a nose of dried flowers, black cherry and earth. It is supremely youthful and flavours possesses a primary quality. It is intense, focused and persistent. Should age for a very long time.
October 20, 2016 - Tasted blind.
Clear, medium ruby (slightly paler than Les Fremiers).
Red fruits, vanilla oak, a touch of violets. Some green vinous notes developed with air. High acidity, medium body, medium flavour intensity, medium(+) tannins. Medium(+) finish.
More 'masculine' than the accompanying Les Fremiers 2011. I preferred that wine on this night, but I wonder if this will be reversed in a few years' time. Would love to re-compare.
91-92 pts.
October 20, 2016 - Dinner at Imperial Treasure: The aromas and flavours of both Pommards (Fremiers v Rugiens) were rather similar. Red cherries, blueberries, light perfume and slightly floral (violets?).
On the palate, flavours of strawberry, prune and some dark blackberry character. High acidity, medium+ tannin, full bodied and long finish. I thought the Rugiens was slightly more structured and balanced compared with the Fremiers. Notwithstanding, both Pommards were excellent.
July 25, 2015 - 2005 Vosne Romanee Blind Tasting: Floral sweet dense strong acid. Floral at the back.
April 22, 2015 - A bit of raspberry, cherry on the nose. Improved when served slightly chilled. Very pretty and floral for a Pommard. Many guessed a Chambolle. I think the Pommard character manifests itself on the finish where the tannins start to surface. Otherwise this was a very elegant and drinkable wine. Not terribly showy but quite serious.
