December 12, 2022 - Lots of structure left I noted the tingle of acidity underneath a waff of licorice that transitioned into raspberry then strawberry and a long finish that brought back licorice with a faint lime/rose essence. Wonderful experience , enjoyed in our best Pinot glasses.

December 11, 2022 - Really pleased by this wine! 23 years old, tar, roses, cherry pie, vanilla, dried herbs. Surprisingly fresh with fine tannins. A wine this old is always a roll of the dice, but this came up aces.

February 7, 2013 - Brown, orange colour. Beautiful fragrant with thyme and Cuban sigar tobacco, bay leaf and christmass tree. Still tanic but the tannins belong to this (kind of) wine. There is wood, there are blackberries... this is a lovely wine.

December 8, 2012 - I don't recall tasting this wine in May 2012, but there is a CT note that I apparently authored then. This most recent bottle, which I enjoyed at home with Dean K., was much, much better than the bottle in May. Very smooth palate that shows very nice integration of tannin and oak. The fruit here is nicely proportioned and shows very good focus, along with good Barolo attributes like sappy, tarry red fruit and a bit of menthol. No burnt notes in this bottle. Very suave and supple mouthfeel that is the result of proper Barolo cellaring. Great showing this time, and the bottle went fast.

May 11, 2012 - Dark profile, dark cherry with some strawberry notes, balsamico, mossy forest floor, at a good point in its evolution now that the tannins have softened but there is still good structure. Began with a troubling burnt note, but that faded with air. With air, dried meat notes. This had qualities that one looks for in a Barolo, at least on paper, but falls short of greatness. Good, but ultimately not that memorable.
