November 2, 2019 - PnP’d. Very young. Needs a good 5yrs. Nose is starting to open up. Wine has massive bell and green peppers, and is very green. Medium minus finish. Definitely drank too early.
June 6, 2019 - Medium dark garnet color. Mid-weight. Red and mostly black fruit that takes time to evolve on the glass. Has good acidity and structure but I don’t think it resembles a Bordeaux. A bit too sweet and fleshy and I don’t get earthiness, gravel or iron.
March 15, 2019 - Drinking great - dusty, deep, tobacco, herbs, round but light plum-berry fruit. A wine fulfilling its potential: California fruit with the weight and complexity of Bordeaux.
December 11, 2018 - #2 of 2. Terrific again, Pauillac-like, classified growth Bordeaux complexity, class, polish, and balance. Relatively primary cassis, blackberry cedar, graphite, and velvet tannins with good acidity make this a perfect food wine. @ 8 years old still a baby, and this has the backbone and freshness to evolve for another 10-15 years easily. Bravo.
October 6, 2018 - Drank from Coravin, day 2: A spectacular Bordeaux-inspired blend with the balance of a first-growth, and an absolute steal at $60. Real class, complexity with Pauillac-like pencil lead, cedar, cassis, Blackberry in a middle-weight frame. Glad I have another, and this is a refreshing break from the bruisers that can come out of Napa.
November 25, 2017 - Deep red fruit, dried herbs, spice and nice acidity. Beautiful wine.
June 4, 2017 - Terrific midweight with a long, graceful arc of expression, classy and complex, with plums & herbs, blackberry & graphite.
April 22, 2017 - This is absolutely singing right now. Nice fruit, well balanced, great acidity. Long, smooth finish. May try and see if I can't find a few more...
April 2, 2017 - Great wine. Very Bordeaux like. 55% Merlot made it very mellow. No astringent tannins. Love it.
September 19, 2016 - very nice. mid-weight in my view.... drinking these too early in the past has given me a well-structured wine with modest/subtle fruit and the promise of something better. This is probably still too young, but at least beginning to strut.
Really blossoms with 30 minutes in the glass.
