January 11, 2024 - Dark crimson in color. 14.2% ABV. Beautiful nose of black fruits, leather, graphite and cigar box. Medium body with medium acidity and tremendous balance. Supple and exceedingly approachable. Currants, cassis, tobacco and earth on the palate. Nice length on the finish. Really well made Cabernet Sauvignon from a problematic vintage in Washington. Best over the next 2-3 years.
October 31, 2023 - Decanted >2 hours. We last tasted this vintage almost 4 years ago and the wine continues to age wonderfully.
On the nose, dark black fruit, cedar, leather, and earth. In the mouth, really smooth with mild cab flavors. Plenty of life left to wait a few more years on this vintage.
September 24, 2021 - Vanilla notes in a well structured wine on opening. After a couple of hours settled into a delicious Washington Cab, the best kind. I think this one has legs.
August 23, 2021 - Very disappointing. Not much fruit, good acid and good structure. No wow
March 28, 2021 - In a really good place right now. Blackberry current little bit sharp. Crushed cherries opened 1.5 hours before consuming as it was a little chilled from the cellar. Big Bordeaux glasses also a positive. Drinking well.
March 31, 2020 - Big red cherry fruit bomb, restrained tannins and full body with some acid on the back end
March 28, 2020 - 75% Cabernet Sauvignon blended with 10% each Merlot and Petit Verdot plus 5% Malbec.
Decanted for about half the day prior to note. Light sediment noted in bottle.
Aromas show the development this wine has had in bottle with above moderate intensity. Pure scents of cassis, pencil shavings and rubbed thyme meets notes of leather, tobacco, tomato stem, smashed blackberry, fig and black cherry that slowly reveal hints of warm earth, cocoa, violet and spice that are all hemmed together seamlessly.
The palate enters with finesse. A creamy, smooth mouthfeel that brings a refreshing acid structure, moderate alcohol perception and building suave tannins. Balanced in it's flavor profile and, in comparison to the other high-end wines in the valley, seems more restrained. This wine reveals notes of cassis, leather, rubbed herbs, cocoa, earth, tobacco, dried violet, blackberry, fig, graphite and No. 2 pencil. The wine seems to intensify on the finish where the tannins build, flavors reverberate and acid lifts.
An excellent wine from a tricky vintage that has cellared well and very reminiscent of a left bank Bordeaux.
