October 28, 2015 - Aroma opens with some funk and dark fruit. It's a little sharp, and the funk blends into a sweet fruity note as it opens up. The flavor is bigger than the aroma; it has a rich feel, is a little sharp on the tongue, has some of that funk, and some bright fruit behind the dark fruit. Some sweet berries appear in the flavor given some time. Tannins are on the mild side.

I'd think this still has some time to age. Tasted at about 61°F.

June 8, 2014 - too dense, too much of a fruit bomb, no finesse.

September 11, 2013 - The wine was a little thin although the structure did come though, however, the fruit was flat for a Grenache base wine.
    I was give this a 88 to 89

January 4, 2013 - Belle couleur, petite trace d'évolution. nez de caoutchouc comme certain vins d'affique du sud. Très bizard. En bouche le caoutchouc est encore présent. Déception pour ce vin.

September 2, 2012 - Popped and poured. Beautiful wine, all the flavors were integrating nicely and the sense of balance is perhaps what impressed me the most. Smooth, rich, yet with excellent tannin and acidity to contrast. The bouquet was filled with notes of black fruit, tobacco, dried mint, eucalyptus, coffee, and soil. A fascinating expression of California grape climates. The mouthfeel had a sense of intense depth that I appreciated, and the darker flavors seemed to fit this wine like a glove. Wish I'd bought more.

(Bonny Doon Vineyard Le Cigare Volant) Dark red color; focused sweet cherry and vanilla nose with a hint of pepper; tight yet, cherry, red fruit palate with firm tannins, not very interesting
