August 25, 2012 - Dinner with Mike Grammer (Pera, San Francisco): More subtle than the 1997, somewhat reticent nose, some fruit with hints of smoke; full bodied, balanced. 90

January 28, 2010 - Fragrancy of earthy spices, cut berry, mud.
Flavors are fresh and engaging with peppery black berry, herb, roasted meat, leather and charcoal.
Very full through the midpalate with a bit of trailing off toward the finish.
Quite good and still going strong.

May 24, 2009 - BLACK CHERRIES, LEATHER, & TOBACCO IN THE NOSE. BLACKBERRIES AND LICORICE IN THE FLAVOR. MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH.

January 27, 2008 - At nearly 14 year old this wine looked rather youthful very dark deep color. The nose was full of lavender, smoked meat, herbs de provence, and ripe, dark red fruits. The palate echoed these same thoughts, with most of the harsh tannins resolved and it cut a swath of dark red fruits across the palate leaving behind an essence of smoke and herbs. Wonderful This wine could easily go for another 5 years
