September 25, 2021 - Another good bottle. Probably not worth the retail price though.
March 12, 2021 - Bold, classic Napa but restrained in fruit which makes it a very nice variation. One of the best 2011's in recent days. had it from a Magnum.
September 15, 2020 - Fantastic. Notably better than the previous bottle, which was also quite good.
July 17, 2020 - I have quite a few bottles of Merus in my collection from several vintages but this is the first time drinking it. Full body and plenty of power. Good food wine. I still have a case from this vintage so will see how this wine evolves over time.
May 12, 2020 - Bad year......good wine. Great from the pnp but does even better with 2 hours of air. Prodigious sediment/crystals in the neck/on the cork. Finer was used for pouring. Classic cab nose to start, trends toward more pen ink and lead pencil over the two hours. Heavy weight in the glass and very dark garnet red. No hint of the 9 years of age. The fruit is strong but evolved and melds with the well integrated sweet, rounded tannins and there is plenty of acidity on opening which recedes slightly during the two hours and drinking. This obviously has a long way to go but is drinking so very well right now and without the green noted in this difficult vintage. Nice length and continuity through the finish......one of the better '11s I've had.
addendum: this trails off a bit at 4 hours and weakens (91-92pts), best in the first 2-2.5 hours, IMO.

March 16, 2017 - Visited Merus in Dec and truly loved the '11 that we had tasted along with the '13. Popped one today and did not disappoint. For a well known, tough vintage for Napa, this stands out.

January 12, 2017 - Love Merus Cabernet, this particular vintage is not one to keep around long term, I think it is drinking at peak or just past right now, 2008 and 2009 are better.
