In comparison to the ‘03 version tasted a few times recently this was entirely devoid of fruit. With air revealed a biscuity mineralite that was heavenly.
But I suspect this particular bottle suffered its provenance…
April 12, 2024 - Delicious. Tried to stop after the first glass to no avail.
March 7, 2024 - Served blind from mag. Darker colour than the 04 ruinart rose it was paired with. Slightly stinky, reduced nose. Biting acidic mousse. Compact. Very slowly opening. Some confusion with the somm about which was which in this flight but I’m 100% convinced this was the dp! Not a great showing for such an august wine in mag format.
December 24, 2023 - This bottle was open for business though still relatively youthful. Concentrated, rich and powerful red berries with some nice floral nuances.
October 11, 2023 - 2 small pours. Awesome. Full on the palate. Delicious with a lot of weight. Steps above the ‘06 LGD Rose. Super good.
April 21, 2023 - Initially prominent toast, smoke, sweet spices, gilled nuts, hawthorn notes, sharp and linear. With time and warmth it gained weight and complexity - creamier, expressed more plummy and dried red fruits, sencha, English tea, savoury minerality. All well confined in the pure, lingering finish
April 6, 2023 - Drinking very well, big crowd pleaser, had with smoked salmon with a touch of caviar on top - perfect! 93

December 24, 2022 - Drinks too quickly. While I really enjoyed this with caviar and stone crabs, wife did not like the finish as she describe it as tart. Hold
August 14, 2022 - Wow. Depth, filling on the palate crisp taste, long finish. Just the right glass to go with sushi. Hold/Drink/Buy.
