April 18, 2020 - A nondescript, almost funky nose blew off to reveal honey on the nose, with a hint of dried herbs. Dark caramel and butterscotch on the palate, with subtle notes of tart green fruit, balanced by generous (and surprising, given the vintage) acidity. This was a really fun bottle to try.

May 30, 2014 - This wine took me a bit by surprise, not because I was expecting it to be bad but because I was not expecting it to be so good. Deep gold in color. Honeyed aromas of marigolds, candied lemon peel, ripe peach and nectarine, poached pears, and unsalted butter. Lithe and seamless on the palate, well balanced, with a refreshing lick of lime-accented acidity on the finish. I really couldn't have wished for a better showing for this wine.

August 14, 2011 - Not as good as other vintages. The following is a commitee tasting note. Deep golden color. Nose of pear, melon, peach, grass and butter. On the palate hints of honeydew melon, pear, green apples, and lemon zest, really comes through at the end. Good acidity and does well with food. Had this with Sea bass, with a buttery balsmic reduction and it went really well. Medium to long finish, much better as this warms up in the glass. Drink chilled and you lose the complexity.

July 10, 2010 - Similar to notes of 2009, but off a tad. Past its prime, but still appealing complexity. A nutty, mineral finish.

September 4, 2009 - Just had one glass of this. Nice goldon color to it. Nose of pears, oranges and maybe some almond? Very tasty as the citrus really is coming through but not taking the wine over at all. Oak lingering in the background keeping the citrus in check. Excellent finish with the acidty keeping this bright and lively.

August 16, 2009 - Drinking (and enjoying) since release and down to a few bottles. A light yellow color, nose of a blend of citrus, pears, slight oak and a slight nuttiness. This has been a food chard, nice acid and fruit balance, still has good length on the finish. One of Shafers best chard's IMO. As expected, not as fruit forward as when young, but now has some nice complexity to it. Went perfectly with a chicken piccata dish.
