March 15, 2013 - While the last '02 C Squared was "fine," this bottle was beyond great. While all young Carlisle Zins are vivid, in-your-face (or...tongue) wines that wrap their fingers around your throat as they goes down your gullet in some magical, mesmerizing way, this was all about the echoes of what once was. Still a lengthy presence on the palate, very nice and non-alcoholic nose, all in harmony. Harmony is surprising in an older wine showing 15.9% on the label. A beautiful wine that seems to have exceeded Mike's expectations in terms of longevity.

November 25, 2012 - This rating is actually (in my mind) quite strong, as 10-year old Zins are always at risk. This one only threw a bit of sediment, but the color and aromatics were still pure "Mike Officer." The alcohol (15.9%) was almost absent if not greatly receding, a nice factor, but the raisin-y characteristic of the flavor profile suggested it was just cresting or actually OTH. Other than that (over)ripeness, this went very well with London Broil with a Port-wine sauce. One more in the cellar and I wll do it with another of my Port-driven sauces, which seemed to blend well with it.

October 23, 2011 - I stumbled across this single bottle unknowingly stored amongst some syrahs. Wonderful, refined and delightful. A great education on probably my favorite of the Carlisle SVD zins.

November 17, 2010 - Mature and lovely wine. No heat whatsoever, a seamless wine that was medium/full bodied with a velvety texture. Good amounts of licorice, sage, brown sugar, cracked white pepper, black raspberry, hints of ground cinnamon and cloves. Sadly my last bottle, but I don't think there is any improvement in its future.
