August 5, 2023 - My experience with the big boys of Bordeaux is limited and so I'm not sure how a pinnacle Lafite from a good year should taste, but this is pretty damn good. I could sense it was missing a bit of heft and consistency, but at current prices compared to good burgundy, kind of a bargain. That being said the bottle I had was pristine with high neck fill and a fully intact cork.

Started big. Cassis, light tobacco, fall leaves, bursting at the front of the nose (vs. deeper in). Nose then shied away, turned to a bit of mushroom and then red licorice, followed by some minty anise and pepperoni. two hours in bottle, and boom, the nose is back but deeper this time and gives you that immediate eyebrow raising reaction. Couldn't quite get there again though. more pure red fruit coming through a bit. Stays classy if not the most overt example of a vintage. Plenty happy with the result and would say is in a good drinking window. Seems like storage conditions are paramount

January 28, 2023 - I agree with Ricard’s comment from 2020 here: felt closed and a little dead, quite acidic and didn’t taste like the traditional older Lafite that I’d been hoping for; didn’t match my expectation. On the decline for sure; drink ASAP.

January 22, 2020 - Visibly ageing - a bit cloudy. Woodsmoke and bacon fat and some damson jam. Cedar. Acidic, tannic, closed and thin. Delicate, melancholy. Unexciting. Disappointing. Very disappointing in fact. So much fame and reputation and legend and then this? Admittedly it wasn't a great vintage. Completely dead.

    August 28, 2019 - Château Lafite Rothschild vertical 1958-1994 (Moscow): 🏅Rating 97/100 (4,7⭐)

Violets, roses. Already shining, but has so much untapped potential.

October 30, 2016 - Opened up over two hours to a very enjoyable smooth texture with no hard edge. Dark fruit and a hint of smoke
