April 30, 2024 - Nose is coming around but tannins are still very present. Took a couple of hours but this is a good wine. I would hold a few more years.

April 26, 2024 - Should be decanted for sediment if nothing else. Time has done well for this wine. A little funkiness blew off quickly leaving a balanced red fruited and finely spiced wine. Good acidity and integration. Might lack deep complexity but it is quite nice at this stage.

February 3, 2024 - Shared with a friend over dinner. Finished later in the evening at home.

LOVE the nose on this. Garrigue, potpourri, red licorice, cherry and sandalwood. On the palate a little more fruit driven with blackberry, sour cherry, white pepper, and dried leaves. Fine tannins linger a good 30 seconds in the mouth. Like the taste; LOVE the nose. Overall very enjoyable and pretty much a solid buy every year.

January 23, 2024 - 30 minute decant. Nose of earthy cherry, rose petals, and a hint of spruce. Bright red cherry palate with sandalwood, cherry pit, red licorice, and loads of wet stones and a dollop of chamomile tea. Slate and graphite start the finish with tannins that are marble smooth, adding leather, red plum, and some citrus zest notes on the finale. Excellent.

November 23, 2023 - Drank with turkey, dressing, etc., along with a 2010 Brune et Blonde and a 2014 Tensley syrah. A little disappointing, but still my favorite of the bunch. A little thinner and lighter than I had anticipated/hoped, but the nose...cowabunga! All kinds of stuff going on - lavender, herbs, minerals, baconfat, and more. Pleasant fruitiness, but not over-the-top like the Tensley. Good (not great) finish. Everything I'd want, except for the light body and somewhat muted flavors.

    September 15, 2023 - Perfect cork.
    Dark ruby color.
Raspberry, blackberry, dill, and dryish sour tannins.
The aroma is fantastic and uniquely amazing.
It smells like Korean BBQ and lavender.
Overall, the flavor is in your face and a little overbearing, and the aroma is a definite wow!
If paired with the right food, this could be amazing. This would go great with anything from Southern France, Provençal wood roasted chicken is what I'm wanting to try this with...The French make wine that pairs with food, and this one is no exception.

+1 for the je ne sais quoi

August 4, 2023 - Medium red. Very light nose, typical Pegau notes just turned way down. Raspberry fruit, mild earthiness and little or no garrigue.

Pleasant with steak frites but a Côtes du Rhône off the list would have been too. This was heavily discounted on release.

May 11, 2023 - At night of severe weather here in OKC, so opened a Pegau, lovely. Still youthful, a nice future. Went well with an amazing lightning show! Yum.

April 22, 2023 - Cinnamon, anise, and beef broth (Saigon breakfast phở aroma).
The is a little bit of horse manure sweetened by grandma My’s burning incense in the air as she mantras to her past relatives and Buddha..
    The complexity is wonderful.
The tannins give it a dry bite at the end making this a food wine, not a cocktail stand alone beverage (i.e. serve with food).
