January 17, 2020 - During a Paulee dinner so only brief impressions: From MAG. Excellent showing, lots herbal, cluster notes, like a Dujac, touch of farmyard. Dense but not heavy.

January 17, 2020 - Paulee in Singapore. Excellent showing from magnum. Very nice delineation of earthy notes and remaining fruit, very aromatic classic Burgundy, well worth its Grand Cru status. No green notes that would indicate the tough vintage. Tannins a touch drying, hinting at perhaps a touch too much extraction back then

December 28, 2016 - This has matured into classic red Burgundy and unlike others' notes, nothing green in this bottle. Slightly sappy, cool aromas strawberry, light raspberry, violet, and a bit of spice. Slightly dusky. Medium weight, well balance palate, that is fairly complete with pinot fruit flavors, even if it is not particularly deep or complex. Quality is good 1er cry, not GC, but still quite enjoyable. This bottle is fully ready to drink.

December 23, 2013 - Green. I could make some positive comments about this wine but, at least for me, everything fades under an overbearing greeness on both nose and palate. Conclusion - avoid 2004s even Grand CRU's.

January 30, 2013 - Initially no hint of green, but after some airing, I could detect a small amount..However, not a detraction from the wine. Somewhat muted red fruits. Somewhat lean. Fair acid on the finish...

8/1/2007 (link)(Potel Nicolas Clos de la Roche) Medium-plus cherry-red colour. The instant aromatic impact comes from red fruit notes before a stronger, mineral/cedar element takes over. The less wine you have in your glass, the more wonderful it smells, lovely red fruits. The palate is very well filled with concentrated fruit and quite some intensity in the mid-palate. The tannin is not badly textured though there’s a short-lived trace of bitterness - but it comes at the same time as the earthy, dark oak appears on the finish so that bitterness seems to be more wood-based. That length is certainly grand cru without being too showy, though there’s a subtle creamy undertow there somewhere. Overall it shows good ripeness, and nice balance - if the cedar element becomes more subtle this will be lovely, but right now it remains - for me - a questionmark.

3/1/2006 (link)(Potel Nicolas Clos de la Roche) Soft, complex and sweet red nose, lots of interest. The wine currently seems to be a bit of battle for supremacy between the fruit and the structure - and there's plenty of both - just needs time to settle down a bit. Like most of the wines in this range the structure is beautifully tailored, so I expect this to come together well.
