Community Tasting Notes 9

December 22, 2023 - I will say that I was concerned for this bottle long before I opened it - it had a cloudiness to it that suggested premature oxidation or being too old, and while it wasn’t as bad as I’d feared, I think my concerns were valid; it just didn’t have the clarity or translucence of literally every other old Burgundy/other lighter old wines of mine when held up to intense light. My intuition tells me it was just a tad too old, hence the score and not marked as “flawed”, but given my relative inexperience with flawed wines (I’m privileged as hell I know lol), it could have been a touch premoxed as well. Cork was slightly colored but not too bad. I would check that and especially the cloudiness factor before buying if you can.

June 2, 2017 - My last of these and certainly the best. Browning rim, fully mature, earthy Pinot nose and excellent flavour with deep red fruits and lots of savoury notes and sous Bois finish. Excellent.

May 17, 2015 - Quite a bit more developed than previous bottles, fully mature. Nice mix of earth, fruit, sous bois and game.

November 18, 2014 - Developing well starting to show a bit of amber at the rim. Earthy pinot nose, quite a bold wine, very typical Nuits. Good beetroot you pinot though not especially complex.

December 14, 2012 - Much better than two previous bottles. Fading rim and bouquet just starting to open, though still a lot of cranberry, but also some earthy, meaty fruit there too. To taste, just showing a little secondary development, good acidity, cranberry and cherry fruit, good lengthy and good pinot character. Should develop further.
