February 25, 2021 - Lovely surprise! In 2016 I started learning about reds, and began a collection for such purposes. Did not write prices down, but I kept all purchases under $20. The collection grew, but tasting was minimal. The other day, I opened a 2009 Las Rocas Garnacha, and was surprised how delicious it was. Had some friends over for sampling, and when the bottle was gone, I opened the Atteca 2013 garnacha (grenache). As delicious as 2009 was, the 2013 was even more so, and both, straight after opening - no decanting, a big surprise for a wine that was probably around $15 in 2016/17. Today, they sell close to 45-50. Interesting to note that the 2009 Las Rocas, was a lot fruitier than the smoother, more polished 2013. Both great though, as said.

We did not finish the 2013, and two days later, I had the remaining glass. It was good - OK, but not as delicious as a couple of days ago, so, this is a wine, that does best enjoyed right away.

It is smooth, with a wonderful finish. Probably would go with just about anything, given the fruitiness. It is even wonderful as a sipping wine.

September 1, 2017 - Other reviews have it right -- lots of flavors up front, and a nice big mouth feel. For me the nose was simplistic (just black fruit and alcohol), and after a big impression at the front of the mouth, I didn't find much else. Probably I just like wines that are smaller and more subtle. It's a good wine, but not to my taste (so the point rating is not relevant).

October 13, 2016 - Nose: intense, blackberry, plum, raspberry, licorice, spices
Taste: full bodied, medium tannins, medium acidity, mulberry, blackberry, plum, black cherry, licorice, smoke, spices, big fruit concentration, powerfull, velvety, hedonistic, grenache monster but I can't rate it higher because alcohol is slightly noticeable even when wine is cool down

August 10, 2016 - dusty, dark grenache, 10 months in french oak, 15% but isn't overtly thick, or overdone, the acid and finish has good punch, and some gamey aromas on the nose

August 6, 2016 - Nose: black cherry, black raspberry, blackberries, some red fruit and spice - white pepper and cinnamon. Great nose.
Palate: black cherry, cherry, red raspberry, slight boysenberry or plum; spice of white pepper, cinnamon, and ?sage. Some leather and slight birch beer, no tobacco. Good mouthfeel - not real dry. Tannins are present but silky. No notable earthiness. Two drinkers independently blindly scored it at 92 -how often does that happen? This is a great garnacha and excellent QPR. Let's find more...
