    December 11, 2016 - Maderised and undrinkable ... What a shame

November 19, 2016 - No formal notes taken. Was enjoyable, but I've had far better vintages from Harlan. Somewhat one-dimensional.

November 10, 2015 - An honest flaw in the bottle. Not totally corked but strangely stewed and cloudy. Probably a bad fill with too much oxygen. Real shame as the '99 was just starting to make it interesting.

April 7, 2014 - Okay so I will be the first to admit that I may score this higher because of the name. But I was expecting 100 pts from this. This is a knockout wine. Just blows the doors off the place however in my opinion it was not better than the winter which is a fraction of the cost. This is still a powerhouse of a wine and outstanding. Loaded with fruit still. This could age another decade easily. You can start to get those secondary characteristics which made it amazing because it was so fluid that all the components blended together but were distinct. It was hard to describe. Phenomenal and something to remember.

December 28, 2013 - Quite mature in appearance but still extremely saturated in colour. The nose is very warm and has significant VA lift but also beautifully pure and intense cassis aromas. Very dimensional nose that features refined oak handling, some farmyard and hints of herbal notes. In the mouth, very full bodied with a warm alcoholic finish and a plush texture. Very complex and layered, if not profound - this is new wave Napa in an extremely accomplished manner. Long and complete - a fabulous wine in the Harlan style. Drinking well now but I am reasonably certain this has at least 10 years of positive evolution ahead of it. 94+

(Harlan Estate) Tarry, plummy coffee nose; tasty tar, plum, coffee, mocha palate, with beautiful, pure fruit; long finish
