July 21, 2017 - Third rendition of Avery Family Cellar Wine Dinner - Root day and '14 DRCs to the rescue! (Mirabelle restaurant, Washington D.C.): Top shoulder fill and excellent appearance. Ripe black fruit, cassis, asphalt, a hint of green, black pepper and VA. Good concentration, rustic tannins, good acidity and a medium finish. The nose is pretty straightforward and the palate is rustic and flat. Some thought undrinkable and nasty.

October 27, 2005 - Steven K. Friendship Lunch (University Club): Full coffee red with slight bricking at the edges. Full tight aroma fo black current fruit with hints of coffee. Lovely rich ripe bright black current fruit. Still showing surprising youth, especially for a very 'average' vintage. Excellent. 95 pts. 10/05
