May 18, 2014 - Cassis, tobacco mint on the nose. Develops for 2-3 h and then starts to fade. A wonderful wine that drinks perfectly now.
May 16, 2014 - Did not taste blind, so I won't score.
Starts of younger than I expected, and before looking at the bottle properly I for a while thought it was late 90's. After a while the mature notes turn up. Raisins and figs together with leather, tobacco and plenty of Bordeaux markers.
Dry with round tannins, but absolutely not dried out. Good acidity, and a really long finish.
Drinks good now, but probably better a few years ago.

April 15, 2014 - Limpid crimson, wonderfully expressive nose from the off, slight note of vanilla oak, rich plums, mint and a hint of violets. So youthful, rich, pronounced flavour that really opened up in the glass. Great balance. Nice acidity, fresh and lifted. Very fine, well integrated tannins. Damsons, blackcurrents, merest touch of vanilla, tea. All very youthful with years of life ahead of it. Long, long finish. Enjoyed over 4 hours and it just got better and better. A complete wine in every sense. Bravo!

February 14, 2014 - Bottle 1 - bouquet so funky and taste off that we opened bottle 2. While the wine was showing its age, it is a good Monte Bello.
We took the funky bottle 1 home and two days later it was very drinkable and very good.

December 20, 2013 - Confraria Dezembro 2013 (Agnelo - São Paulo - SP - Brasil): What elegance! Silky. Balanced. Tannins resolved. Californian signature

(Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello) A similarly intensely coloured hue. Very backward on the nose, which still shows awkward aromas of toffee-edge oak. The palate is simply massive, with a dense structure of tannin and acidity, and yet is silkily textured. There is a ton of fruit. This impressive wine needs a good five or ten years further bottle maturation before I would touch another.
