May 17, 2024 - Coravin fun - Bordeaux (My place, Burwood): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of brambles, plums, blackcurrant, controlled oak, sweet spice, a little cream. Juicy tends to medium plus intensity acidity, brambly frit backed by plums and blackcurrant. Chewy tannins are slightly woody, coarse and sit apart from the fruit. Time to integrate.

May 5, 2024 - Cassis, dark berries. Pure style, fresh and juicy. Long. Very good.

March 2, 2024 - Typical Bordeaux on the nose, but a bit muted and unbalanced. Probably should have decanted the bottle.

January 18, 2024 - My last of these. This is one of the best of the '14 vintage I've had, as I tend to find the '14 Bordeaux vintage a bit closed and awkward. This is so refined, classy and polished. It's showing quite well now too.

January 1, 2024 - Opened for a good eight hours before serving with roast leg of lamb. This is in a beautiful place right now. Generous blackcurrant fruit, some pencil shavings/graphite, and a bit of cedar/cigar box coming on. Nice bitter edge to it on the palate, which means food really is a must here. (It’s classified Bordeaux, so that kind of goes without saying.) The only reasons I’m not rating this higher right now is because 1) I suspect it isn’t peaking yet, and 2) the finish did leave a little something to be desired and was slightly overwhelmed by the richness of the fat from the excellent local lamb.

    My favorite of the night.

December 23, 2023 - Noch deutlich Tannine, jung aber schon trinkbar und erstaunlich ausgewogen, mehr Frucht als der 2012er

October 3, 2023 - From half bottle. Enormously pleasing. Smooth, no rough tannins. Deep red fruit but not heavy. Perfect with lamb chops.

June 9, 2023 - Drank a 2010 last year that I found relatively dull, but this was anything but. Still somewhat tannic, the fruits (plum, dark cherry) are not overt but melded into wood, pencil shavings and black tea. At almost 10, it is showing hints of secondary (tertiary?) notes, but those are still a ways off for those who like their bdx well aged. Lots of life ahead for this one, but quite drinkable now.

May 18, 2023 - Pleasantly surprised by this. I tend to struggle with the '14 vintage but this one is more open than most. Well-balanced with power and elegance like a good St. Julien. Showing well.
This held up surprisingly well on the 3rd day, still showing beautiful, sweet, vibrant fruit, along with some structure.
