June 2, 2019 - Nothing goes better with family farm lamb shank Osso Buco than a nicely aged KR PS.

April 7, 2017 - Poured the glasses for dinner about 15 minutes before it was ready, no decanting. Nose was a lovely blend of black fruit, tobacco, herbs, and a hint of mushroom floor. When started drinking with dinner (grilled porterhouse) was excellently well balanced, showing blueberry, spice, clove, and integrated tannins weaved in. Still going strong and flavorful more than an hour after opening. Can't wait to have my other bottles in a few years.

July 4, 2013 - Opened and sat in bottle for 30 min while preparing dinner. First pours were still a little hot on the nose and slightly closed as well. Mostly getting some black pepper notes such. Decided needed more time before further note taking.
Over the course of dinner (and about an hour of time) the nose really opened up showing vanilla, some oak, blueberries and blackberries, and some hints of smokey notes. This is one darn tasty wine. Still a little hot but has great balance of acidity and tannins. This is the beginning of the re-awaking after it's dumb phase, so could certainly use a couple more years.
Kept getting more complex on the nose with jasmine & lavender being added in making it a very pretty nose. Hints of anise also showing up. On the palate becomes leather and smoke dominating it, with the fruit there but a bit in the back seat pulling forth some dark fruits and raspberry. The finish also shows some black tea, amongst other things.
Happy to know I still have 4 bottles of this, and if I have another bottle a couple years from now I do plan to keep at least one bottle until after 2018.

February 1, 2009 - Very, very dark purple-garnet, almost opaque; blackish. Visually stunning.

Surprisingly hot nose (considering lengthy decant time beforehand) that's also dark and rich; raisins, brandy, prunes, and spice. Very complex.

Pleasantly sour and tannic on the palate; full-bodied but with medium mouthfeel. Sour cherry, bing cherry, dark berries, prune. Fruit not as present as nose suggested, but this is still jammy and combined with bold yet balanced tannins, a chewy structural effect. Surprisingly, obviously earthy for a Californian PS; this is more like an 'old world' wine in that respect.

Long finish that's sour, a bit woody and spicy; clove. This remains hot, with noticeable but not unpleasant alcohol throughout drinking and finish and despite extended decanting. Perhaps one of the most interesting and complex PSs I've enjoyed; I cannot overstate its complexity & uniqueness.

October 24, 2008 - Phenomenally delicious. I don't know if I see this getting any better. It's smooth drinking, the tannins have become very integrated, and the fruit explodes with blueberry and blackberry.
