February 13, 2016 - Valentine's Day Dinner Party Celebration (La Jolla, California): This pristinely-cellared bottle was double-decanted, allowing three hours in decanter prior to funneling back into the cleaned bottle. It was then served at a dinner party, where it was sampled over a 3-4 hour period. Still a youthful deep ruby/red in color, it serves up an intense bouquet of plum, kirsch, anise and violets. Full-bodied, round, seamlessly alcoholic (13.8%) and with medium polished tannins, it delivers flavors that are ripe and dense, with black fruit, fig, dark chocolate and spice at the forefront. The middle palate is solid and the buffed finish is lengthy. Drinking beautifully now, this alluring Cab has enough structure to last several more years. Drink now-2023.

January 10, 2016 - Decanted for ~2.5 hours and then consumed over the next 2 hours. Full rich nose is classic Napa -- not overblown, but true to it's CA roots -- big milk chocolate, cherry, bell pepper, fresh cut herb, spice and vanilla nose. Palate is full bodied and explodes with energy and flavor. Leads with creamy fruit that is infused with loads of tobacco, herb, bell pepper and spice notes. Fruit is matched with medium acidity and polished, suave tannin. Really lovely stuff. I'll probably drink my remaining two bottles in the next 5-7 years -- given vintage I don't think this gets too much better but should hold well.

September 26, 2015 - Perhaps not the best vintage but this wine is always consistent and dependable -- even in "off years". Hold for a while if you want all the oak to integrate or drink now

October 7, 2014 - I really have two ratings for this wine: 91 for the first night and 93 for the second night. Originally decanted it for pushing 2 hours. Not heavy on the tannins on the first night, but they are there. Deep and dark. A great food wine. Even though this wine should be long lived, it is great now as long as it has a long decant.
