December 23, 2022 - 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot; 22 months in French oak, 65% new. Stood for 2 weeks, decant (2hrs.) for large and small sediment. Fragrant on opening. Nose of cherries to start with some fine perfume leading to layers of dark fruit. Cherry, currants and a touch of licorice to begin. Overall a fine Napa cab just coming into it's own. After an hour or so in the glass, some bracing tannins begin to show, a welcome addition. Long life ahead for this one.

June 8, 2022 - Highly recommend, especially for lovers of big Napa cabernets. 100% cabernet sauvignon. Poured at a wine education event for a group of nurse practitioners that Kim & I hosted after a medical talk I gave. Mature and peaking. Drink or hold - drinking well right now and right now I would recommend at least a 60-90 minute decant but with proper cellaring this has years to go and may well hit 94 points+. A good QPR wine at our acquisition price. Full bodied, balanced oak & tannins present, almost inky black, no bricking, developing complexity and has a beautiful long lingering aftertaste. Much bigger & bolder then the '12 Jordan that was also opened as a point of comparison. Nose dark, intense and aromatic with oak, vanilla, dark stone fruit, more white then black pepper and coffee. Flavor profile up front of oak, dark stone fruit and classic cassis with mid-late palate development of blueberry, stone, leather, coffee and a nice smokey finish.

January 30, 2022 - This has been better. There was a strong rubbery flavor that I hadn't detected in previous bottles, the acidity is still quite high, and the flavors haven't opened up at all. I am hoping that this is a difficult adolescent stage and so will leave my other two bottles in the dark for another few years.

December 25, 2021 - Dark ruby with slow legs. Cherry and blackberry on the nose. Moderate mouth feel. Cherry, plum, dark fruit, and spice on the palate. Almost no tannins. Cherry and spice on the moderately long finish. The bottle improved over two hours (and then it was gone!). Nice treat for Christmas dinner.
