September 27, 2013 - Mature black fruit aromas and flavors. Good spice in background. Slightly too firm for the level the fruit was advanced.

August 14, 2013 - Mostly black fruit aromas with a bit of mushroom, braised meat and new oak spice. A bit more evolved on palate, just a touch too firm and structured for the flavor combination. Good now and likely to stay at this level for a while going forward.

May 6, 2013 - Popped and poured. Slightly floral start with red and black cherry aromas along with plenty of earth and some meaty spice. Mostly black fruit on palate that comes across slightly more fresh than the nose. Good density, well textured, with an overall impression of a good Gevrey Villages level wine.

September 9, 2010 - Oregon Pinots young and old (Browntrout, Chicago IL): nose: very interesting and nebbiolo-like nose of spice tones, roasted herbs, dark red cherries, red fruits and some bits of plums. Nice depth with a real expressive quality to the nose

taste: pretty and elegant medium feel with medium acidity and balanced tones of spices, roasted herbs, dark red cherries and a good bit of red fruits. Everything is well in place and the feel has a silkyness as well

overall: finally a bottle that is showing some maturity while also seeming like a good bottle. The nose was a lot of fun and the palate was showing some nice class

    November 15, 2009 - 50 points for being here; color=4/5; nose= 12/15; flavor& finish=15/20; overall quality= 8/10.
Great color, great legs (thick, viscous). The nose is well-aged cheese (like a great sharp cheddar), a little iodine, wet stones. The aged cheese carries through on the palate, a little wet earth, just a hint of licorice. Good concentration. The fruit is still there and relatively fresh. Great interplay between acid and tanins: just enough of both to keep you on your toes, but not too much of either. All-in-all a very well made bottle that (despite the crumbly cork) is well aged and showing great right now. However, it is showing the faintest signs of age on the finish. Drink up.
