October 8, 2022 - Fascinating wine, very little fizz left, bread and yeast with some honey notes, a really long finish. Clearly well past prime but delicious.

February 13, 2013 - This was bottled in honour of the royal wedding of Prince Andrew & Sarah Fergusson but sadly, like their marriage, this bottle had seen better days. Apologies for the description but this was the colour of Berocca colour wee. Aromatically, it was pretty expressive with notes of molasses, cigars and bbq smoke. Not typically aromas I associate with Champagne but moving on....the palate was more about toffee, espresso and salt water with a touch of cooking chocolate and a final hit of mushroom and earth. The finish wasn't long though and it was difficult to escampe the impression that this was a good but not great bottle. I'm sure there are much more satisfying bottles out there of this wine. A magnum would definitely be fun to try.

February 14, 2010 - Pol Roger SWCathon: Honey, pineapple and nutty characters. Nice flavour and good balance, just not much depth.

May 25, 2007 - Farewell to a Friend: Gentle, meandering bead. Caramel, lime, bread, hazelnuts and olive oil on the nose. The palate is distinctly earthy. Shows great restraint, as though the flavour is desperate to burst out but is held in check by the core of acid. Excellent length and a most enjoyable wine if you are a fan of aged Champagne.
